Childhood Experiences
When you're still living by the rules you learnt as a child.
Perhaps you've spent years telling yourself it wasn't that bad.
That other people had it worse. Or wondering whether you're remembering things accurately at all.
Maybe your memories feel hazy. Perhaps there are parts of your childhood you simply can't remember.
Or maybe nothing obvious happened, and yet you've always carried the feeling that something wasn't quite right.
Sometimes it's what happened.
Sometimes it's what didn't happen.
Whatever your childhood looked like, the way you adapted made sense. And the way you feel today makes sense too.

You might recognise yourself in some of these experiences...
-
Feeling responsible for everyone else.
-
Constantly worrying about getting things wrong.
-
Feeling guilty for putting yourself first.
-
Believing you have to cope alone.
-
Becoming overwhelmed by conflict or criticism.
-
Feeling like you're never quite enough.
These patterns developed for a reason.
As children, we become remarkably good at adapting.
We learn what we need to do to feel safe, loved or accepted... or simply cope.
Perhaps you learnt to stay quiet. To be the good one.
To keep everyone happy. To become independent before you were ready.
Those adaptations probably made perfect sense at the time.
Together, we'll gently make sense of those early experiences—not to blame the past, but to understand how they may still be shaping your life today.
Because understanding creates choice.
And with choice comes change.
Your past is part of your story.
It doesn't have to write the rest of it.
Healing isn't about becoming somebody different.
It's about understanding the ways you learnt to survive, and gradually discovering that you may not need to rely on them in quite the same way now.
Over time, many people begin to:
-
trust themselves more
-
feel safer in relationships
-
express their needs without guilt
-
respond rather than react
-
experience greater peace, confidence and freedom.
