Emotions

Your emotions aren't the problem.

Sometimes they feel too much.

Sometimes they don't seem to be there at all.

Either way, it can leave you wondering what's wrong with you.

What if nothing was wrong?

What if your emotions were simply trying to tell you something?

None of us are born believing our feelings are wrong.

We learn it through our relationships and experiences.

Perhaps your emotions were dismissed.

Perhaps they felt too big for the people around you.

Perhaps you learnt that staying calm kept everyone else comfortable.

Or that showing how you really felt simply wasn't safe.

Over time, disconnecting from your emotions can begin to feel safer than experiencing them.

There are many ways we learn to protect ourselves.

Some people feel everything.

Others feel almost nothing.

Some become overwhelmed.

Others stay busy, logical or in control.

These aren't flaws.  They're often protective responses

that helped you cope.

The difficulty is that they can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and from the people around you.

Your emotions aren't working against you.

Even the emotions that feel uncomfortable have something to say.

Anxiety.  Sadness.  Anger.  Shame.  Fear.

Rather than pushing them away or becoming overwhelmed by them, we can begin to listen with curiosity.

Your emotions don't need to be feared.

They simply need somewhere safe to be heard.

At Papillon, every emotion is welcome.

Not because every feeling is easy.

But because every feeling has a story.

Together, we'll gently explore your emotional world with compassion rather than judgement, helping you feel safer with your emotions rather than controlled by them.

Wherever you're starting, we'll begin there...

You don't have to understand every feeling before reaching out.

You don't have to find the right words.

You simply need somewhere safe to begin.

Sometimes change begins when every part of you feels welcome.
